Please introduce yourself.

I’m Leena Elizabeth. I have been in the banking line for almost 9 years and am currently working in the sales department. I’m a mother of a 4 year old. Cooking and baking are my passion — I was inspired by my grandmother and mother to take them up. Home-cooked meals have played a big role in our daily life as we seldom eat out.

How did this business began?

I lost my mother in July 2021. Cooking was one thing she was very good at and people adore her skills. I started cooking since 2016. In the beginning, I wasn’t very good at it until I was in a serious relationship with my husband as he enjoys my cooking.

In 2017, my daughter was born and I was a stay-at-home mum for 2 years, I started cooking daily and that’s when my cooking improved as my mother was the one who will taste and give me comments.

I started this business to cope up with grief as it was hard for me because my mother loved my carrot cake and also cooking was her hobby and I took over it. My mother always had the dream to sell it

I first started my carrot cake business because on 2021 Mother’s Day I baked my mother a carrot cake. She ate it and said you should sell this! It’s scrumptious!

I didn’t know that it was the year she’s leaving me forever.

I opened a page on Instagram called scrumptiouscakes_by_elizabeth and everyone said it’s the best premium carrot cake in town!

In 2021, I starting cooking for my cousins, friends and family, everyone motivated me to start selling my food but I wasn’t ready. 2 months ago I thought to myself why don’t I just give this a try. I often get disappointed when I pay for food that isn’t up to my expectations and I want to do something different.

That’s where I decided I should start Mamamia’s Cuisine.

Most of my recipes are my grandmother’s. I modified them a little to my mother’s version. Never once have I received feedback that the food wasn’t up to expectations. Due to my busy schedule at work and daughter, I’m currently doing set menu’s on weekends. On weekends I love to use whatever I have left in my fridge to make a meal, this also helps me improve in my recipes in a way.

Do you do catering?

And I do take catering, kids’ Bento sets, order for 50 persons (maximum) for now. I normally prefer to discuss with my customers based on their preferences and I explain the menu in details before orders are taken.
